Dr. Rajiv Bajaj is a renowned Ophthalmologist practising in Pitampura area of Delhi. He is the founder of Bajaj Eye Care Centre, a centre equipped with ultra modern facilities that provides solutions to a wide range of eye ailments. Dr. Bajaj is an MBBS graduate from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi. He further pursued post graduation MS in Ophthalmology from Delhi University which involved the study of the anatomy, physiology and detailed study of the surgical problems of the eyes.
Prior to independent practice, Dr. Bajaj served at Safdarjang Hospital, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Maharaja Agrasen Hospital and Sant Parmanand Hospital which have been his immense sources of experience in the ophthalmic field. He later established Bajaj Eye Care Centre which caters to patients from Delhi and NCR.

Awareness about Diabetic Retinopathy and Age related Macular Degeneration Diabetes starts affecting the retina when the person has had diabetes for over 10 years. Though a good glycaemic (Blood Sugar) control is necessary for general well being and may delay the appearance of Diabetic Retinopathy, it may not halt it altogether. It is necessary for diabetic patients to get their eyes checked at least once every year to know if the retina has been affected. A Fundus Fluorescence Angiography (FFA) and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) may be required to assess the possible damage to the retina.
Treatment of diabetic Retinopathy and Age Related Macular Degeneration may include Anti- VEGF injection and laser photo coagulation. It has been seen that early treatment with laser benefits most cases and is able to preserve excellent vision for a life time.
In advanced cases of Diabetic Retinopathy it may be necessary to correct damage caused by vitreous hemorrhage surgically using endolaser vitrectomy.
Symptoms of Diabetic Retinopathy may include

Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)
Age Related Macular Degeneration (ARMD)is degenerative condition of the macula (Central part of the retina) caused by hardening of the arteries that nourish the retina. This deprives the sensitive retinal tissue of oxygen and nutrients that it needs to function and thrive. As a result the central vision deteriorates. There are two types of ARMD; Dry ARMD and Wet ARMD. Wet ARMD can be treated with good success with intravitreal Anti VEGF injections.

What Is Blade Free Lasik ?
BLADE FREE LASIK as it suggests does not involve any kind of blade in lasik laser procedures making the procedure more precise, accurate, safe and more comfortable to the patient.
Any lasik procedure consists of two steps :
- In the first step a corneal flap is created and in blade free lasik this is done by utilizing a femtosecond laser instead of a blade or microkeratome(blade like computerized equipment) to create a flap as in conventional lasik .
- In the second step another laser called an EXCIMER laser is directed to the layers beneath the flap to alter the shape of the cornea according to the patients requirement .

Since the human cornea is a curved surface this technology allows a more natural and comfortable fit , which can be even further customized according to the size and shape of the patients eye . This results in a less pressure build up and sensation on the eye during the procedure , allowing the patient to retain vision throughout the procedure unlike withother FS lasers where your vision is blacked out for approximately 30 seconds, where patients become highly uncomfortable.
